2018 promises to be another busy year for Neil McBrearty Flooring Services, whose shop is on Dixon Street, just off Corporation Road and the city centre in Carlisle
Neil runs the business with the help of his mum, Jenny, his wife Caroline, Garry (who helps with measuring and the day-to- day running of the business) and an obliging team of experienced and professional carpet and flooring fitters.
Neil has been fitting carpets for over 20 years and is very well respected for this as well as being a trusted retailer of all types of floorcovering.
He said: "We are a local, family-run business with over 20 years' experience of supplying and fitting carpets, bespoke designer flooring, vinyls, laminates, woods and now artificial grass. We pride ourselves on the high standard of our service and the impressive finish we create. That's why we have so many loyal customers who come back to us again and again.
"From choosing the type of floor covering to the style and colour, we appreciate that this can be a difficult decision, which is why we are here to help. We offer a personal service, learning more about what our customer needs and why, always putting their needs first. Our experience and expertise is at their disposal. This includes home visits with samples and measuring to help them make the right choice for many years of comfort and use."
Two years on since the floods and now with his shop and business back to normal, Neil is keen to look to the future and to discover which exciting floorcoverings are likely to be available for autumn/ winter this year and what 2018 trends are likely to be.
With this in mind, he attended the Flooring Show in Harrogate in September which had more than 190 exhibitors and was in its 55 th year. It was showcasing the latest trend-setters for carpets, bespoke designer flooring, laminate and woods, accessories and tools. Hot topics under discussion were professional fitting, colour schemes and key design trends with demo zones highlighting the latest interior styles and what 2018 flooring might look like.
Neil loved the show and believes it will help him further to advise his customers on what the best options are for all room types.
He said: "I firmly believe that whatever the flooring. it's my job to interpret how the best option ensures floorcovering in houses contributes to a major part of feeling at home and content. The right type of flooring can transform a room.
"I am passionate about what I do and I want customers to trust me to help them, so I want to be up to date on what our industry has to offer."
